Introduction
When I first moved to London, I was looking for a new sense of freedom, a way to reclaim my sexuality, to be more in control of it, but I had no idea that I would eventually find myself venturing into the world of Femdom. Not that I’m a dominatrix (I can barely manage to keep my houseplants alive), but there’s something undeniably intriguing about the space Femdom creates.
London, being the hub for all things alternative and boundary-pushing, has no shortage of places where you can dip your toes into the femdom world. But before you jump headfirst, let’s talk about what you might find and whether it’s the right space for you. Join me here at Emmanuelle Jolie in London, and let us explore the femdom community of the Big Smoke.
The Femdom Community in London
Finding a femdom community built on mutual respect, consent, boundaries, and openness to desire can be difficult. A lot of people seem to focus too much on the kinky and unusual power dynamic side of femdom, they seem to forget about trust and communication. Fortunately, there are communities, both online and offline, that are accommodating to those who want to explore this sexual dynamic. You can find them in femdom clubs in London and events like the Torture Garden.
There are still certainly some bad apples, but from what I gathered from friends who participated in these events, the majority of the femdom scene is about empowering women and not exploiting anyone.
Femdom Clubs
If you really want to get involved in the femdom community, I suggest visiting a femdom club in London. Places like the Club Black Whip are a good place to start. It is a safe space where women can feel in control without feeling objectified. The clubs has strong policies on consent preventing possible discomfort. Additionally, they prevent taking pictures inside for the sake of the guests. It’s truly a surreal and eye-opening experience.
Most femdom clubs have different rooms. The dance floors are often tame, but there are rooms with burlesque dance performances and other friskier activities between subs and doms. That isn’t exactly my scene, so I stuck to dancing with my friends and just enjoying the moment of freedom with other women who inspire me with their magnetic aura.
Femdom Events
As I mentioned in my other blogs here in Emmanuelle Jolie in London, London is a cosmopolitan city, which makes subcultures like femdom common and accepted. Although it is not something you can casually bring up on the streets, there is a very present community for it that can give you the opportunity to mingle with like-minded individuals. One popular event that I know of is the Femdom Ball which is an annual gala held every October.
The event welcomes a diverse spectrum of attendees, from professional dominatrices to couples. What’s great about these events is that they follow certain etiquettes and codes, making the experience fun and safe for all attendees. Strict dress codes are also in place, so take note of that if you are planning to book a ticket.
Conclusion
So, is London’s femdom community a safe space? Absolutely. As someone who is curious, I’ve never felt more secure in exploring this dynamic than here in London. Although I ended up discovering that it’s not my cup of tea, I love how I can help people who are interested in the femdom community find their place in this city.
